SO IT BEGINS

It's October, and I'm super psyched.

Why?

HALLOWEEN, OBVIOUSLY.

I grab every single opportunity to celebrate, and Halloween is about as good as it gets. It is also stupid to limit oneself to just one day I find, and therefore I like to dedicate all of October to Halloween, just like dedicate all of December (and half of November) to Christmas.
I absolutely hate it when people complain about depressing and boring October-November-December is, and then complain about how Halloween is a stupid American holiday (I know this is a golden opportunity to write a lengthy tirade about what Halloween is really about, but I can't be bothered really) and how moronic it is to start Christmas in November.

You know what? Halloween is fun. Christmas is lovely. OF COURSE October/November is dull and dreary when all you do is sit and moan rather than focusing on what makes these two months great.
Halloween is a magnificent opportunity to indulge yourself in all this morbid, and indulge I shall.

Just because I start early, that does not mean I dress up all October (not more than usual, anyway), I save the costumes for the big day, just like I save the presents for Christmas Eve.
I dress up all day on 31st of October though, usually more than once. When such a golden opportunity presents itself I sure as hell ain't ignoring it, so last year I went to the grocery store in my DS9 science uniform and Trill spots.

I usually start to plan my costumes early and spend most of October planning/working on them. I've obviously started this years project(s) already, but I'll keep shtum for a while longer as I won't spoil the surprise. Last year I recycled my costume from '10, which is unlike me, but I just couldn't help myself as I would dress like that every single day if I had the chance.

For a massive showoff like myself, it's strange I don't have a bucketload of pictures, but I did managed to dig out one, from 2010:

I made the hat, the collar and the pompoms on the sweater (they weren't as crooked as they look, I swear). The makeup was the cheapest (and only) I could find, so it might be lucky I have no closeups of it. It looked better at a distance.

Even though I wear costumes all day on Halloween, it's not very common around here, which made it rather fun to go to the shop (and the bus!) after work.
That's the main reason I limit myself to just one day a year, "it's Halloween" is a valid explanation.
"I ran away from the circus" is not.
